SUPPORT THE CHILDREN
Return of the Language
On September 23, 1988, mothers from the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke decided that it was necessary to establish a Mohawk immersion program to serve the greater community in an effort to revitalize the language.
Their vision was to create a home-like environment for children so that they could live the language immersed in the philosophy of the Kanien'kehá:ka.
We are pleased to share that we are now in our 32nd year!
Summary
Karihwanoron is a grass-roots initiative; over seen by parents and a board known as the Entity/Rontenon'ha Tsi Tehatikah'neratie
Fundraising
Due to the current pandemic, we have been limited on our regular fundraising events. We have decided to hold our Club 200 year long raffle sales virtually. Karihwanoron has also been fortunate to be a recipient to some of the local fundraising raffles happening online.
All proceeds will go towards areas within our program where grants will not cover and will also be used to build up a savings for a future building/home to call our own.

Wa'tkwanonhwerá:ton
Karihwanoron (precious things) is located in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke.
For 33 years, our speakers/educators and the parents of Karihwanoron have dedicated their time to return the Mohawk language and Culture to our children.
Niawehnkówa for all that you do!
